In the hamlet of Egrots near Sancerre, Michel and Laurent Thomas have farmed 17 hectares since taking over their family estate in 1970. Their vineyards, planted with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, span three distinct soil types—clay-limestone, limestone-stony, and silex—each contributing unique aromas and aging potential to their wines. Producing 10,000–12,000 cases annually, they export the majority of their wines to Japan and Russia.
